The last decade has been extremely tough for online LGBTQ+ communities. We've burnt ourselves out from endless trauma and infighting, in a moment when queer resilience has never been more necessary. How do we build a better social web that elevates and protects queer voices during a political era that seeks to silence them forever? Join Ændra as she discusses her attempts to build a better news industry on Bluesky, as well as some encouraging green shoots emerging from the Bluesky trans community.
About Ændra
Ændra Rininsland has worked in news media since 2013. Ændra has build a variety of high-profile tools for Bluesky and ATProto. She is behind XBlock, a labeler system which uses machine learning to automatically hide screenshots from other social platforms. She also operates one of the most popular custom feeds, the News Feed, with over a 120k daily active users. Ændra also serves as a technical advisor for Northsky, which is building a safer platform for the trans and queer community on ATProto.
